A hat trick of tries from prop forward Jerome Weigh was not enough to save Canterbury from the narrowest of defeats.
Having established a seven point lead at half time through tries from Julian Hunt and Weigh and a conversion from Luke O'Regan, the city side made defensive errors after the break which cost them dearly.
Despite an O'Regan penalty goal Medway added two tries, both converted, to the one they scored in the first half and took the lead. As the city forwards ht back Weigh got his second touchdown but the home side responded with another converted try which left Canterbury playing catch-up.
They nearly did it as Weigh burrowed over to complete the hat trick but despite heavy pressure the city side could not find a clinching score,
