On a changeable Autumn day, this was a game the Canterbury Zingari side was always going to struggle to win. For the first time in over a decade, according to captain and manager, Colin Scurr, they were forced to take to the field with less than full complement. With only 13 players, Canterbury gave an excellent account of themselves. Holding a committed Hastings & Bexhill side to two to tries to one after the first half an hour, winger Finn Calthrop, scooting down the left-hand blindside to score. The move coming from a decisive switch in the direction of play creating a very rare numerical advantage. Canterbury lost a player before half-time to concussion, making both the task harder and their resolve stronger. Despite the increased challenge, Gareth Thomas scored twice to bring the score to within 7 points at 22-15 before the numerical advantage finally hit home.
