A Message From The President

A new rugby decade dawns with the arrival of the 2011/12 season and our ambition is to make it as successful for Canterbury as the first ten years of the 21st century

The first team have suffered a minor set back; relegation to the National Division 3 London & South East ending five years among the top 70 clubs in the country. We view this as a temporary situation and, while nothing is ever guaranteed in sport, every effort will be made to ensure we return to the level we know we are capable of.

The senior team may be the club's flagship but our commitment to playing and promoting rugby across all age ranges and both genders remains a strong as ever.  The continued success of the Junior and Minis sections, the rising stars of the Development squad and our Womens' side prove that we are getting a lot of things right and serving the local community well.

As a mark of our confidence in the future we have installed the club's first spectator stand, thanks to the efforts of our fund raising arm COBS, and internal improvements to the clubhouse have been carried out.  The aim is to make Merton Lane an even more welcoming place.

The rugby season means eight months of great games and great company. My fond hope is that  everyone, whether player, official, sponsor, supporter or newcomers who want to discover the delights of the game, on and off the field, will find that Canterbury is the place to share that enjoyment.
